Windsurfing - oh yes! How happy am I that I can do this amazing sport. Today was definitely one of the best sessions I've had here. Conditions were great and today I felt I am really getting the hang of everything I am trying to master. Howling wind, gusting up to what must have been gale force and then some. Well powered up on my 4.6 but rarely overpowered. Probably because the kit under my feet felt perfect for the conditions - a 78L wave board with a tiny fin. It was really easy to control at all times, and jumped and gybed very nicely, feeling much better in all respects than the 2003 model I had been sailing the past few sessions. Although occasional spin out was encountered with the tiny fin, recovery was a piece of cake - a quick tug with the back foot and the board continued on its merry way, without me having to sheet out or come out of the straps.

Jumping: Good. Again nothing particularly special, but one whopper on my last run out which although I flat-landed, I sailed away from cleanly, which left me pleasantly satisfied with my overall jumping performance.

Gybing: Good to very good. Most of the gybes I tried came out dry, including those in the mental conditions (honking wind, huge swell) on the outside. I'm really committing well and going for my gybes on the inside now. Many of my entries felt damn good today, as I was powering in with good speed, and I got close to planing out of a couple.

Wave-riding: Good. Although waves were small and success was limited, I tried whenever possible to go for it and really started to get the feel of how to set myself up on the wave and then bottom turn, cut back on the lip etc. Just need some bigger waves now and I'll be ripping like a pro....

The one main downer to the session today - when carrying my kit to the water a freak gust of wind came from the wrong direction and slammed my sail down onto the rocks. Result: a couple more tears in the sail, these ones in the leech of the top 2 panels. I patched them up with some stickers before going out and they survived OK. Tomorrow, more stickers, and fingers crossed....I am determined this 4.6 will last until when I leave....

So fortunately although it happened just before I went out, the sail damage didn't affect my session at all. I'm so tempted to slap on 5 stars to the session, because generally everything went so well from kit selection to conditions to performance, but since I wasn't fully successful in anything I was trying unfortunately it's just 4 stars again.
